2025 French Open predictions: Duckworth-Bublik, Arnaldi-Aliassime picks
The 2025 Men’s French Open saw its first real surprise on Monday morning when No. 4 seed Taylor Fritz lost to World No. 66 Daniel Altmaier in four sets.
Outside of Fritz’s departure, the first two days at Roland Garros have been true to form, but there are a couple of favorites who look vulnerable on Tuesday, which is the final day of the first round.
2025 French Open picks for Tuesday
James Duckworth (+400, Fanatics Sportsbook) vs. Alexander Bublik, approx. 6:30 a.m. ET

There’s just no knowing what kind of performance you’re going to get out of Alexander Bublik from match to match.
The high-ceiling, low-floor native of Kazakhstan is just as likely to completely combust as he is to take care of an inferior opponent. Bublik’s volatility only grows when he’s on the clay at Roland Garros.
Bublik has never made it beyond Round 2 at the French Open, as his powerful serve is muted in these slower conditions.
We’re counting on that for Tuesday’s match against James Duckworth.
The 33-year-old Australian may not have the skillset to contend with a player like Bublik in a vacuum, but Duckworth has a never-ending motor and is the type of opponent that can frustrate a mercurial sort like Bublik.
If Duckworth can remain patient, he has a decent chance of outlasting Bublik in this match.
The Play: Duckworth ML (+400, Fanatics Sportsbook)
Matteo Arnaldi (+105, Bet365) vs. Felix Auger Aliassime, approx. 11 a.m. ET
It’s been another sluggish clay-court season for Felix Auger Aliassime. The Montreal native did make it to the semifinals of ATP Hamburg last week, but he had lost four matches in a row before that, including to the No. 126 and No. 237 players in the world.
Auger Aliassime is at his best in quick conditions, where he can take advantage of his powerful serve and groundstrokes, but he can fall apart quickly when things slow down and he’s forced to remain composed.
Matteo Arnaldi hasn’t been lights out during the European clay swing, but he’s better suited for these conditions.
The wrong player is favored in this match.
The Play: Arnaldi (+105, Bet365)
