According to a source, Texas A&M might move on from HC Michael Earley
Texas A&M’s 2025 baseball season is more than likely over ahead of the college baseball tournament selection show on Monday afternoon, and if the Aggies aren’t shockingly selected in the field of 64, head coach Michael Earley could be on his way out after just one season, according to one of the more reliable sources in the college baseball media sphere.
Finishing his first year at the helm with just 30 wins and 13 victories in SEC play, including two in the SEC Tournament, Texas A&M will be the first preseason No. 1-ranked team to not make the postseason, which is quite the stain for any head coach, especially one with zero head coaching experience after he was hired last fall.
Until Sunday night, speculation regarding Earley’s future was 50/50 based on him returning for one more “prove it” season with a new coaching staff, or Texas A&M AD Trev Alberts bringing in a big game to solidifying the program’s future, not just based on retaining players from the 2024 roster.
During a conversation on X, D1Baseball co-owner Kendall Rogers was asked by a user if he believes Texas A&M will retain or fire Earley as soon as this week, leading to Roger’s revealing response:
“I would be very surprised if they stand pat.”
After Friday’s 4-3 loss to LSU, Texas A&M junior outfielder Jace LaViolette’s heroic performance after severely injuring his left hand led to scoring two of the Aggies’ three runs against the Tigers, while his passionate defense for Michael Earley was certainly something to take into account.
“I’d die for him and it’s not only me.”
Still, Rogers is one of the top college baseball insiders, who knew about Jim Schlossnagle leaving for Texas before most in the media, so it’s smart to trust him right now.
