Barbra Streisand Is Helen Mirren’s Ultimate Hype Woman Gushing Over Her Cannes Film Festival Look

We all need a friend like Barbra Streisand.
The A Star Is Born actress, 83, took to Instagram to show her support for Helen Mirren at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival on Saturday, May 24, following Mirren’s appearance in France.
Streisand posted a photo of Mirren posing on the red carpet, including a sweet message.
“Dear Helen, you look gorgeous,” Streisand captioned the photo. “What an outfit. And the hat that you can see your eyes through! With Love, Barbra.”

The Mobland actress, 79, attended the Colours of Time premiere in a long-sleeve black gown with a cascading Tiffany blue sash that tied around her waist into a bow.
Mirren accessorized the gown with a fascinator and an eye-catching Margot McKinney necklace called the Marina Collier that included a string of gemstones totaling over 400 carats. The focal point of the necklace included a 241-carat cushion-cut green beryl paired with an additional oval-shaped 109.48-carat gem with a 65.72 aquamarine stone.

Each stone of the necklace was surrounded by an arrangement of green beryl, aquamarine, tourmaline, sapphire, diamond, paraibas and tsavorite (green garnet) on 18K gold. In addition, 29 rare baroque pearls from the Australian South Sea made the necklace a genuine masterpiece.
Mirren wore pearl droplet earrings with a black fascinator adorned with a floral appliqué to top it all off.
The Queen actress attended this year’s Cannes Film Festival as a L’Oréal Paris ambassador. During an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Mirren revealed how she continues to stay true to herself while attending red carpet events.
“I’ve learned over the years, your shoes have to be bearable,” Mirren told PEOPLE from the film festival. “They don’t necessarily have to be comfortable. And in fact, comfortable sometimes is a bit boring and you want cool shoes. But they have to be bearable because if you’re in unbearable pain, that is going to reflect on your face and your posture and everything. So you start with the shoes, and just make sure that you’re secure in them and they’re bearable.”

Once she has her “bearable” shoes selected, she chooses an outfit that is perfect for her. After years of attending red carpet functions that have ranged from the steps of Cannes to the Academy Awards, Mirren admits she doesn’t have the time or energy for the wrong looks anymore.

“I’ve come to a point where I just want [my red carpet outfit] to be comfortable as well,” she told PEOPLE. “Beauty knows no pain. I have been there more than once, you know, sucking up the pain for my vanity. But again, it reflects on your face if you’re comfortable. [A red carpet is] a performance. It is like going on stage, really, and I treat it as such.
