French Open 2025 live updates: Day 2 latest as Jannik Sinner advances to second round

In addition to Richard Gasquet, we’ve just had two more Frenchman advance, to the delight of the home crowd in Paris.

Ugo Humbert (22) dispatched Christopher O’Connell in straight sets, 7-5, 6-3, 7-6(3).

And over on Court Suzanne-Lenglen, Arthur Fils (14) has triumphed over Nicolas Jarry in four sets, 6-3, 6-4, 6-7(6), 6-3. The 20-year-old Fils advances to the second round of the French Open for the first time in his career.

In a lovely bit of synchronicity, Fils is the youngest Frenchman to register a career win at all four Grand Slams in men’s singles since Richard Gasquet in 2007.
