Gracie Abrams Supports Paul Mescal at the Cannes Film Festival
Gracie Abrams is proving that sometimes, the most romantic thing you can wear is a fantastic little black dress.
On Wednesday, the “Close to You” singer attended The History Of Sound screening at the Cannes Film Festival in support of her beau, Paul Mescal.
Abrams walked the red carpet at Palais des Festivals in a black satin-crêpe, tea-length Chanel dress. The cocktail-style dress featured draped chiffon bodice embellished with black crystals, and had a bit of a ’90s flare with its spaghetti-strap halter neckline, which was also embellished with black crystal beads. The back of the dress featured jeweled buttons.
Of the custom Chanel creation, Abrams said in an interview: “It’s the perfect, beautifully-elevated black dress. I’m obsessed with it.”
But her favorite part of the look? The cascading chiffon black shawl that was adorned with matching black embellishments for some added sparkle.
“The shawl has this drama about it, but it’s also so effortless to wear; so light and ethereal. You remove the shawl and feel like you can go dancing into the next day,” she said.
Paring the romantic look with black pumps and Chanel High Jewelry pieces, Abrams and her all-black ensemble perfectly coordinated with Mescal, who walked the red carpet in a sleek black suit by Gucci.
Earlier this year, the Chanel face—who was featured in the brands’ Spring/Summer 2025 pre-collection campaign directed by Sofia Coppola— channeled the same whimsical romance at the 2025 Grammy Awards, but in a monochromatic white Chanel look.
The bride-like ivory gown featured a draped off-the-shoulder neckline, complemented by one of Chanel’s staple rose details, and a sheer matching veil that emerged from the shoulders. The chiffon detail elegantly covered Abrams’s sleek brown bob and merged into the chiffon ribbon train which cascaded from her sleeves. A black ribbon belt cinched her look at the waist, while the chiffon flowed down and softly fell over the dress’ pencil-style skirt.
Ever the picture of class, the singer accessorized the Grammys gown with a pair of classic black pumps, as well as Chanel Signature de Perles earrings and a Coco crush diamond ring.
